The Global Interactive Displays Market Smashes Q1 2015 Records - Interactive Flat Panels Own Half the Lion Share
Interactive Displays Market Analysis and Commentary
21 May 2015 - According to the latest global interactive display report from Futuresource Consulting, the market has seen unprecedented growth with a staggering 42% ('YoY') growth due to the 300,000 displays being shipped in just Q1 2015.
Higher priced interactive flat panels now account for a staggering 50% of the market, with the CAGR forecasted to be up 20% by 2019. Interactive flat panel displays are quickly becoming an educational standard currently with a 20% penetration rate in the class room.
The report highlights opportunities in the corporate market, forecasting that it will be the same size as education in 2018. Futuresource suggests that interest in interactivity within company meeting environments is building and the introduction of Microsoft Surface Hub is expected to create a significant boost by driving awareness of the benefits of meeting room interactivity.
Colin Messenger, senior market analyst at Futuresource Consulting highlighted that "interactive flat panels are quickly becoming the standard display. This growth has been driven by a few factors including large scale investment projects like FATIH in Turkey and the Chinese Education Department, integrating the technology into the educational system."
According to the report two-thirds of the 67 countries that Futuresource tracks each quarter now have over 10% IFPDs and 12 countries had well over 50% of sales as IFPDs. In the UK, one of the most advanced countries, 80% of sales were IFPDs.
Asia has continued to post strong volume growth in 2015 Q1 with an increase of 31% 'YoY', while China continued its ascent, with more than half of all world sales.
In contrast the US sales again decreased. One-to-one learning programs continue to develop apace in the US, with the introduction of common core assessments in 2014 acting as a stimulus for many districts. This major movement towards one-to-one, including investment in connectivity diverts funds and focus away from front-of-class displays.
Futuresource Consulting are the only research company who tracks this market, for 12 years they have been producing a comprehensive quarterly service based on actual sales-in data from vendors with 5 year forecasts covering interactive whiteboards (IWB) and interactive flat panels (IFPD) in the education and corporate sectors.
*Interactive displays refers to Interactive Whiteboards and Interactive Flat Panels used in the Education and Corporate meeting room environments (does not include other applications such as digital signage).
