Uncovering the Opportunities for Professional Displays in the Middle East and Africa

Professional Displays Market Analysis and Commentary

29 Mar 2017 - Despite the macro political and economic issues currently impacting the Middle East, the region still offers significant opportunities for the professional AV industry. Indeed, certain vertical markets and display technologies are forecast to experience significant growth, according to a new report from Futuresource Consulting: 'Middle East & Africa - Uncovering the Opportunity', a thorough and up-to-the-minute investigation into the respective market dynamics of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.

Demand for projection in sub-Saharan Africa is expected to rise significantly out towards the end of the decade as education tenders for entry-level solutions continue to mount. Moreover, the channels in Nigeria and Kenya are maturing with mounting demand for displays (including high-end projection) in installation segments, (such as Staging, Hospitality and Houses of Worship) and are set to challenge South Africa's position as a gateway to the vastly underpenetrated African AV market.

Growth of 9.9% CAGR 2017-2021 of commercial FPD solutions will largely derive from the retail segment for the purposes of signage. However, greater demand for video walls will largely be attributed by control rooms in wealthier GCC states.

"Despite significant investments in IT infrastructure and telecoms by a number of oil-rich economies, the Middle East has been historically unstable and tough for AV vendors to build a sustainable business," says Chris McIntyre-Brown, Associate Director at Futuresource Consulting. "Nonetheless, the focus on diversifying oil-based economies is driving demand for ever-more sophisticated display solutions across a range of verticals – namely retail, transport and hospitality."

Complementing the analysis, the report includes a channel map of the leading players per country and discusses the best route to market with country-specific insights on how business works – information that is crucial for developing AV sales in the region. "Our research highlighted just how diverse the markets are within MEA. The vertical dynamics vary wildly on a country-level basis as does the nuances of building the right network of partners." remarked McIntyre-Brown.
