This report provides insights and analysis on conferencing equipment, behaviours and employee needs in small meeting rooms and huddle spaces. Futuresource classifies these spaces as those designed to accommodate up to six people.
Video conferencing for small meeting rooms has become increasingly popular within the workplace, and these spaces are an ever more important target for AV companies hoping to support collaboration.
Consolidating Futuresource Consulting’s expertise across a range of corporate technology categories, this report provides a detailed examination of the products suited to this environment, namely:
| Collaboration bars (video bars)
| 360-degree cameras
| Fixed cameras
| Speakerphones
The report also draws on end-user research carried out by Futuresource in Western Europe and the USA. The study consisted of 500 telephone interviews with AV and IT decision-makers, and 2,000 online interviews with meeting room end-users. It is supported by industry research and channel interviews.
For any enterprise interested in the opportunities surrounding conference room technologies, this report provides a strategic framework that identifies the key growth areas, market players and extended ecosystem.
The total addressable market for meeting rooms is slightly larger in the United States than in the major Western European economies, at 5.1 million rooms compared to just under 5 million. However, small meeting rooms hold a greater appeal in Western Europe, where they account for nearly half of all formal meeting spaces. Ad hoc spaces, such as kitchens, foyers and reception areas are also much more commonly used as meeting spaces in European organisations.
Collaboration bars have emerged as one of the most popular devices for companies to implement since the pandemic. In 2021, global volumes increase by 40% year-on-year, while demand for low-cost solutions has driven volumes at a greater rate than value.
Fixed cameras face considerable competition from collaboration bars and 360-degree cameras. However, they are proving to be a good solution for small meeting rooms, particularly given the new demand for more individual booth-style meeting spaces.
360-degree cameras are also a growth area in small meeting rooms, with Futuresource expecting strong volume growth across 2023. Key customer segments are SMEs and higher education institutions, as both segments lack the budget and the desire to invest heavily in their meeting spaces.
