The Chinese video entertainment market continues its transformation, previously dominated by piracy and AVoD, total video consumer spend is expected to reach RMB140 billion this year, almost double 2013. 2017 sees the continued development of SVoD with the ‘big 4’ domestic subscription video services iQYI, Tencent, Le TV and Youku Todou all continuing to grow their respective subscribers and content offerings; in turn driving innovation and purchasing behaviour in the paid-for video sector.
