The growth of the overall video entertainment market in France is aided in particular by the continued momentum of the SVoD market, the stability of the Pay-TV market, and Box Office spend finally returning to its pre-COVID level by 2027.
Subscription Pay-TV remains a key part of overall video entertainment spending in France and accounted for ~45% of consumer spend in 2024 but its significance is set to fall, with SVoD spend expected to overtake Pay-TV for the first time in 2027. The sector will witness modest declines, but inflationary price increases will help keep revenues robust.
SVoD spend grew an impressive 11% in 2024 to reach €3.1 billion, and is expected to rise to 43% by the end of the forecast period.
The increasingly competitive SVoD market will continue to be a key driver of the market in France, helped by the regular price rises from many of the major services.
