For the past seven years, an ever widening range of companies, from tech giants to third-party service providers – including, but not limited to the insurance, telecommunication and utilities space – have looked at opportunities to create and offer more value to the consumer through a Smart Home as a Service (SHaaS) model. The benefits are clear – a consistent revenue stream, data capture, regular customer interaction leading to higher retention rates, as well as an additional avenue to acquire new customers.
